Boom 2027: the festival, and who it suits
A week of music, art and ideas by a lake in central Portugal, every second year since 1997. What Boom is like, who tends to love it, and how our journey from Mauritius gets you there.

Where this stands
Boom 2027 is open to book. It is the one journey you can book with us today: packages from Mauritius with Lisbon before and after the festival, and Istanbul and Cappadocia as optional extensions. Prices, what each package includes and the payment deadline are on the journey page.
What Boom is
Boom Festival runs from 18 to 25 July 2027 at Boomland, an estate on the shore of a lake near Idanha-a-Nova in central Portugal. It is held every second year, and 2027 marks thirty years since the first edition. The festival describes itself as wholly independent and free from corporate sponsorship, with no VIPs and no stars.
The programme is published as twelve areas rather than a line-up. The Dance Temple by the lake is the psychedelic heart of it. Sacred Fire is a hand-woven stage for live music from around the world. The Gardens is a slower, chillout ground. The Liminal Village hosts talks, workshops and films, and the Being Fields hold more than twenty spaces for yoga, meditation, breathwork and bodywork.
What it is like
Boom is a camping event in the Portuguese summer. The festival's own guide talks about very high temperatures and dust, asks everyone to drink water constantly, wear a hat and rest in the shade, and bans every kind of open flame at camp. It also asks people to leave flags, selfie sticks and camping chairs out of the programme areas and to let their phones rest while they dance. It is a long week, and the festival's advice is to pace yourself.
Who it suits
- Music lovers, above all of psychedelic and electronic music, and of live world music.
- Curious minds who want talks, art and workshops as much as dance floors.
- People looking for a wellbeing week, with yoga and meditation in the Being Fields.
- Adults happy to camp for a week in summer heat. Our packages are for adults only.
How our journey works
Flight packages leave Mauritius on the evening of 16 July and connect in Istanbul for Lisbon, with a meet and greet on arrival and a hotel in the city. A coach takes the group to the lake at Idanha-a-Nova for the festival, then back to Lisbon, with a day on the Atlantic coast at Costa da Caparica. Istanbul and Cappadocia can follow. Every traveller needs their own Boom ticket, bought from Boom: we do not sell or hold tickets. Your stay at the festival is your own arrangement, and the return date for Lisbon-only travellers is still being confirmed.
Boom opens its online ticket sale on 13 October 2026 at 09:00 Portuguese time, in phases, and says it has been selling out since 2014.
