Your Boom ticket
How Boom sells tickets
Boom sells its own tickets, and we do not sell or hold them. Each buyer can get up to five, paying by Visa or Mastercard.
Each ticket carries the holder's first and last name, date of birth, gender, email, country of residence and country of birth, so buy in the name of the person who will travel.
Key dates
- 6 October 2026: Ambassador and Friendly Price tickets become available.
- 13 October 2026, 09:00 in Portugal (12:00 in Mauritius): the online sale opens.
Tickets are sold in phases: when one phase sells out, the next begins at once. Boom says it has been selling out since 2014, so plan ahead.
Two things Mauritius residents should know
You qualify for the Friendly Price
Boom has a lower ticket price for people living in countries with specific economic realities. Its list includes all of Africa, so Mauritius residents qualify.
Friendly Price tickets are non-transferable and sold only through Boom Ambassadors. You need one proof of residence in your name: a tax residence declaration or a utility bill. Boom's own estimate puts the 2027 average at €34.38 a day for a Friendly ticket, against €41.88 for a second-phase regular ticket. Numbers are limited; once they are gone, regular tickets remain.
Mauritius is a 2027 Guest Country
For its thirtieth anniversary, Boom is inviting ten Guest Countries instead of one. Mauritius is one of them, alongside South Africa for Africa. The ten countries share a total of 500 free tickets, available through Boom Ambassadors to people with a passport and proof of residency. They are limited, so ask Boom early.
Boom has child and teen tickets with their own rules, but our packages are for adults only.
Getting to Idanha-a-Nova
With our packages
Flight packages leave Mauritius on the evening of 16 July, connect in Istanbul and land in Lisbon on 17 July, where you are met. A coach takes the group to the lake for the festival and back to Lisbon afterwards, with a day at Costa da Caparica. Land-only travellers join in Lisbon. See Lisbon in three days, around Boom for the city.
On your own
Boom runs the Boom Bus from Lisbon, Porto and Madrid airports, for holders of a Boom 2027 ticket, with limited seats. By rail, Intercidades trains run from Lisbon to Castelo Branco in about 2 hours 50 minutes on the timetable valid from 20 September 2026, which will change before July 2027. Festival shuttles then link Castelo Branco bus station, 52 km away, with Boomland.
Documents
Mauritius passport holders do not need a visa for a short stay in Portugal, up to 90 days in any 180. Your passport must be valid for at least three months after you leave the EU and issued within the last ten years. At the border, the EU's Entry/Exit System records your face and fingerprints.
ETIAS, the EU travel authorisation, is not in operation yet; once it starts, Mauritius nationals will need it. For Türkiye, you need a visa to leave the airport, but not to stay in the transit lounge. Our guide to visas and documents has the detail. This is a summary of official pages as we read them on 2 October 2026. It is not legal advice, and rules change: check the official sources before you book and again before you fly.
At the festival
Boom is a camping event and camping is free. The festival also offers Tipi Camp, Lizard Camp and Cardboard Village. Your stay at the festival is your own arrangement, separate from our packages.
Payment at bars and food stalls is cashless, with top-ups on site and online, but the Bazaar takes cash. July is hot: the weather service's averages for nearby Castelo Branco are 32.5 °C by day and 17.4 °C at night, with about nine or ten days a month reaching 35 °C. Open flames and gas canisters are banned at camp. Our packing list covers the rest.
